A government school teacher was arrested here for allegedly forwarding a ‘religiously sensitive’ post on a WhatsApp group, the police said on Sunday.Tilak Raj Singh was arrested on Saturday following a complaint lodged by a district official, who was part of the WhatsApp group, the police said.Assistant Returning Officer and tehsildar Ramesh Parmar said: “Mr. Singh, who also worked as a block level officer for election duty, forwarded a religiously sensitive post to our WhatsApp group. We immediately lodged a complaint against him on Saturday.”The teacher was posted at Bansa village under the Manpur police station, he said.Superintendent of Police R.D. Prajapati said Mr. Singh was arrested following a complaint lodged by the tehsildar.“The complaint said that the teacher forwarded an outrageous message in their WhatsApp group. After a probe, Mr. Singh was arrested under relevant IPC sections,” he said.
The newly elected members of the Haryana Assembly will be administered oath here on Monday when the three-day session of the House begins. Senior Congress leader and Beri MLA Raghuvir Singh Kadian, the Pro-tem Speaker of the 14th Haryana Legislative Assembly, will administer the oath to the newly elected members, as per tentative programme of the session. After the members are administered the oath, election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will also take place the same day. On November 5, Haryana Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya will also address the Assembly, this being the first session of the new Assembly. Later, discussion on the Governor’s address will take place while on concluding day on Wednesday, the House will conduct legislative business. The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Jannayak Janta Party have formed the government in alliance in Haryana. They also enjoy the support of seven independents. The polls were held on October 21 and results came out on October 24. In the 90-member House, the BJP won 40 seats falling short by six members for a simple majority. JJP won 10 seats, Congress 31, independents 7, INLD and Haryana Lokhit Party one each.Lone INLD MLAWhile Dushyant’s JJP has 10 members, his uncle Abhay Singh Chautala will be the lone MLA from his party representing his Indian National Lok Dal outfit. On October 27, Manohar Lal Khattar took oath as Haryana Chief Minister for the second time and is leading the BJP-JJP coalition government in the State, with JJP leader Dushyant Chautala being sworn in as his deputy.
In a major rejig, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday sacked a junior minister and changed the portfolios of 11 ministers including nine of cabinet rank.Yadav removed Minister of State for Entertainment Tax Pawan Pandey, an official statement issued said.Portfolios of nine cabinet ministers and two ministers of state were also changed.Balram Yadav who previously held Panchayati Raj has been given the Jail Administration, which was earlier with Rajendra Chaudhary.Chaudhary has been given the portfolio of Political Pensions, the release said.Senior minister Ram Govind Chaudhary was divested of Child Nutrition. He will now only have Basic Education department with him.Brahmashankar Tripathi has been divested of Vocational Education and Skill Development departments and has been left with only the responsibility of Home Guards department, the release said.The departments of Khadi and Gramodyog have been taken from Kailash and given to Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Narad Rai.Kailash has been given the portfolio of Panchayti Raj while Agriculture minister Manoj Pandey has been given Science and Technology.Iqbal Mahmood has been made the Minister for Fisheries and Public Enterprises divesting him of the Secondary Education department, which will be now be with previous Fisheries Minister Mehboob Ali.Minister of State (Independent) for non-conventional energy Vijay Kumar Misra has been given Religious Endowment department while Minister of State for Science and Technology Abhishek Misra has been given Vocational Education.(With PTI inputs)
