HOLLYWOOD actress Sarah Jessica Parker has said that she’d love to move to Donegal permanently and learn how to knit – but she admits such a move is unlikely. The star, her husband Matthew Brodekrick, son James, 8, and two-year-old twins daughters Tabitha and Marion are regular visitors to their holiday home in Kilcar.“Ireland has always been a great getaway,” she said in an interview. “I would love to knit but I am not a good knitter, that’s why I need to learn. I’m decent but I’m not great and I don’t get to do it very much.“I don’t know if it is just a metaphor for doing something less insane. It’s not specific to knitting.“There’s a whole world out there and it’s an interesting, exciting world and I’m sure there’s a lot of satisfaction to be found so one day I will choose to do something different, something else if it’s the right thing for the family.”© 2011 donegaldaily.com, all Rights Reserved The copying, republication or redistribution of donegaldaily.com Content, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited by law. We think we can see this as more solid evidence that Android is going to offer some solid competition in the field of mobile OS. Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… While we recently reported that Google’s Nexus One had a slow start coming out of the gate, the Android operating system, which is spread across a number of devices, is not having the same issues. A report by Myxer, a mobile entertainment company with over 30 million members, says that visits to its mobile site by Android users grew 350% in 2009, strongly outpacing the iPhone, which grew 170% during the same period. 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market Tags:#news#web A Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… Related Posts mike melanson Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting While iPhone is shown to have grown from 3% to 4%, Android has jumped from 5% to 12%. In the fourth quarter of 2009, Myxer delivered seven times as much content to Android phones than iPhones. When the report looks a little deeper into its numbers, it not only finds that the number of Android phones visiting the site have grown, but the number of phones running Android have too. During the fourth quarter alone, the number of Android devices doubled.
Tags:#social media 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market The economy, taxes, education, health care, immigration, foreign policy, China, Iran, the military. These are the big campaign issues for Tuesday’s presidential election. But what about the world of social media? Do people care about different things? Yes.Turns out the simple act of using social networks impacts people’s views and involvement in the issue, too. The Pew Research Center reports 25% of social media participants who read about political issues online become more active, and 16% change their view after reading about it online. So what are the top issues on social media? According to analysis of more than 1.7 million social media posts by the marketing company Vocus, the top campaign issues discussed online are:1. Taxes2. Education3. Budget4. Health Care5. Economy6. AbortionResults were derived from sentiment-analysis software that tracked the tone of tweets and posts to determine what people are feeling. It’s important to note that foreign policy issues aren’t that important on social networks. According to Vocus’ data, China didn’t even crack the top 20. Vocus claims that while traditional media captures the issues that are most important to the masses, social media takes a more accurate pulse on what people online care about. That might not be wrong. Based on the above data, the important issues skew to more personal topics like money, learning and health. And because of social media’s inherent “Me! Me! Look at me!” nature, this makes sense. Meme Value One way these political ideas are spreading is memes, arguably the most dominant online cultural phenomenon of our time, and the vehicle for countless discussions.Big Bird, binders full of women, bayonets and horses, and now, what some are calling the best photo of Obama ever, the meme is an issue itself. And a way to spread an idea like wildfire. Snarky and quirky, yes, but no one can deny its viral value is an important way potential voters learn about issues online. Just measuring the awareness people have of a meme can inform us about which issues are of greatest value. The Rajasthan High Court on Friday issued notices to the State government and BJP State president Madan Lal Saini on a public interest litigation raising questions over the expenses incurred on Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s ongoing ‘Gaurav Yatra’. BJP president Amit Shah had flagged off the yatra from Charbhuja temple in Rajsamand on August 4.The petition, moved by lawyer Vibhuti Bhushan Sharma, has contended that since the ‘Gaurav Yatra’ was an initiative of the ruling BJP ahead of the State Assembly elections, no orders could be issued to the government departments to make arrangements for the march. The State government had ordered the Public Works Department on August 1 to make arrangements for setting up the stage, sound system and decoration for the yatra by inviting tenders for these works. The Information and Public Relations Department was also handed over the task of giving publicity to the yatra.A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog asked the government counsel as to who was footing the bill for the yatra and issued notices to the respondents seeking their reply by August 16. The counsel representing the Chief Secretary and PWD informed the court that the impugned orders had since been withdrawn. The writ petition has named the Chief Secretary, PWD Principal Secretary and Chief Engineer and Mr. Saini as respondents. It said the yatra could not be described as a part of the government’s functioning, as the BJP itself had announced that its election campaign had started with the launch of the march.
The Election Commission on Monday notified that the cadres of the Kuki militant groups, who signed the Suspension of Operations agreement with both the Centre and the Manipur government, will cast their votes in postal ballots. To exercise their franchise, the cadres also must reside in their designated camps and their names feature in the voters’ list, the office of the State Chief Electoral Officer said in a statement here. They would have to collect the postal ballots from assistant nodal officers or nodal officers. The agreement was first signed by the State and the Centre with two militant groups of the community in 2008.
